    摘要: In this study, Perturb and Observe Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithm and Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm are combined to improve the dynamic performance of the control structure of boost converters used in renewable energy systems. For this purpose, a digital control method that does not need any comparator is developed. The maximum power point current value is determined from the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm and it is used as the reference for current control operation in the MPC algorithm. Dynamic capability and tracking performance of the proposed control method is validated by simulation and experimentally. The dynamic behaviour of the control algorithm is analysed by carrying out step change tests. Results show that the control method has excellent dynamic performance thanks to its feature of reference tracking in only one switching period. Furthermore, overshoots and undershoots are successfully eliminated.

    摘要: In this study, the low DC voltage obtained from the fuel cell (FC) is boosted in the output voltage range of 500V by using a double cascaded boost converter (DCBC) circuit. The power electronic circuit has been simulated with the parametric analysis and there have been obtained output voltage ripple about 1295 values at the converter output according to the load variation and the different switching frequencies. After that, the output voltage ripple has estimated with Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for adaptive frequency control depending on the load variation. Thus, the output voltage ripple is taught to the system according to the non-linear load change and it can be kept at a safe level with the frequency control. In such a circuit, the parametric simulation time takes about a week according to the computational performance. The ANN model eliminates the mathematical procedures and time consumption for circuit simulations. The results obtained with the ANN model are in harmony with the simulation results, and these results show that it can be successfully used to estimate the output voltage ripple. In this way, the ANN model has been developed with very high accuracy (<0.5%) in that the charging voltage ripple of Li-Ion batteries can be kept at safe levels.

    摘要: A 402-405MHz fully monolithic Radio Frequency (RF) low-Intermediate Frequency (IF) receiver is presented. The proposed low-power RF receiver consists of a differential Common gate-Common Source Low-Noise Amplifier (CG-CS LNA) with a positive-negative feedback technique, passive mixer, fully integrated Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO), and an IF Variable Gain Amplifier (VGA). To achieve a wide tuning range while keeping a low gain (Kvco), the VCO has 16 bands selectable by a 4-bit digital control. The complete receiver prototype is implemented in a 0.13 mu m CMOS process and occupies 0.625 mm(2) active chip area. The receiver consumes only 3.76 mW of power from a 1.2 V power supply and has a gain of 45 dB and a noise figure of 13.6 dB (integrated from 20 Hz to 0.5 GHz). The design achieves an in-band IIP3 of 2 dBm, IIP2 better than 44 dBm. It presents a 3-dB IF bandwidth of 3 MHz with -80 dBm sensitivity.

    摘要: In this communication, compact cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) is designed and examined with diversified polarisation features in twofold frequency ranges. Three significant features of proposed CDRA are: (i) modified circular shaped aperture is used to stimulate the CDRA, which helps to excite triple radiating modes inside it i.e. HEM11 delta, HEM12 delta, HEM13 delta; (ii) proposed CDRA supports two different polarisation features i.e. Linear as well as circular; (iii) modified circular aperture makes the CDRA electrically compact approximately by 14%. Fabricated prototype of proposed CDRA is used to practically authenticate the results. After measurement, it approves that the proposed CDRA is working in twofold frequency bands i.e. 4.83-6.82 GHz and 7.05-7.52 GHz with the percentage bandwidth of 34.19 and 6.45%, respectively. Experimental results also approve that the proposed CDRA support circularly polarised waves during frequency range 5.65-6.25 and 7.2-7.52 GHz, respectively. Stable far-field results confirm its suitability for WLAN (5.0 GHz) and X-band downlink satellite communication band (7.0 GHz).

    摘要: A proposed topology for a high-efficiency single-stage single-Phase boost inverter with a simple circuit configuration and a low component count is proposed in this paper. The proposed inverter produces instantaneous output voltages higher than the input dc voltage without an intermediate power conversion stage. A new control scheme is designed that enables the proposed inverter topology to produce a low distortion sinusoidal output waveforms and provide good load voltage regulation. The inverter circuit topology and modes of operations are fully described and simulated using Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results are presented illustrating the claimed boosting characteristics, sinusoidal output wave forms and good load regulation capability of the proposed inverter. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed inverter are verified experimentally by building a laboratory model using the digital signal processor (Model DS1104). The experimental results are presented confirming the claimed features of the inverter.

    摘要: Carbon nanotube field effect transistors (CNFETs) exhibit great promise and extensions to silicon MOSFET due to their excellent electronic properties and extremely small size. Implementable CNFET circuits have operational characteristics to approach the advantage of using multiple-valued logic (MVL) in voltage mode. In MVL implementation computation for the system will be faster than the binary system with improved density of digital circuits. This paper presents two novel 1-bit inverter-based ternary full adder cells which second design cell uses only 37 CNFET transistors in its structure. These designs have been proposed using a new definition of Majority-not based full adder, and are compared to the other adders based on power consumption, speed and power-delay product (PDP). Proposed designs are evaluated using simulation run on HSPICE with 32 nm CNFET standard technology under various operational conditions, including different supply voltages, output load variation and different operating temperatures. According to simulation results, all proposed ternary full adder designs in compare to the state of the art circuits in literature have been demonstrated up to 81% and 80%, respectively, improvement in power consumption and PDP.

    摘要: An inverter is designed using an innovative controlled voltage swing logic and having two different current sources. The logic levels are detected by sensing the voltage drop across a termination resistance. Logic 1 is defined when both the current sources are pumping current through termination resistance, whereas a logic 0 is determined when one of the sources is pumping current. This inverter is the newest class of inverter and used in designing a ring oscillator, capable of operating at various frequencies, f(osc). Varying the external load capacitance (C-L) from 1 to 10 fF, the values of f(osc) are tuned in between 0.8 and 1.0 GHz. Mathematical equations relating f(osc) as a function of C-L and intrinsic capacitive components (Theta) are obtained and subsequently validated using gpdk 90 nm technology CMOS process. The proposed controlled voltage swing ring oscillator is observed to draw a current of 0.716 mu A at f(osc) close to 1.0 GHz. The corresponding C-L and the Theta happen to be 1.0 and 53.8 fF, respectively. The effect on f(osc) due to layout geometries and other process parameters keep on changing only by 16% compared to a 7% change in the intrinsic values between pre and post layout for the said ring oscillator. Lastly, a linear empirical relation is obtained to indicate f(osc) as a function of both C-L and the power supply voltage (Vdd).

    摘要: In this paper, a new design methodology is developed for the implementation of a second-order microwave integrator on microstrip circuit. Firstly, an existing digital first-order integrator with best magnitude and phase performance is adopted as a prototype to give digital second-order integrator transfer function. Then, by using the autoregressive process and a least mean square based error function, coefficients of the formulated second-order digital integrator are transformed into the impedance values of transmission line elements. Different sets of impedance values are obtained through the optimization process, and design with a highly accurate frequency response having maximum relative error value not more than 7.2% over the angular frequency range 0.18pi to 0.94pi is selected for implementation purpose. RT/Duroid 5880 is used to fabricate the proposed second-order microwave integrator design. Measured results for transmission coefficient S-21(f) are found to follow theoretical values over the frequency range of 1.8 GHz to 8.6 GHz.

    摘要: In this paper, a new method, namely double spatial covariance difference (DSCD), is presented for DOA estimation of uncorrelated and coherent signals in time varying noise environments. In the proposed method, the effect of the noise is eliminated and therefore DSCD can be used in general noise, as well as low SNR environments. In addition, computational burden has been reduced regarding to no use of parameter and peak search or iterative calculation. Simulation results demonstrate the performance of the proposed method.

    摘要: The topology of the energy-saving single-phase full-bridge resonant-pole soft-switching inverter is proposed to improve the power conversion efficiency of the single-phase full-bridge inverter. The auxiliary circuit is connected with the bridge arm of the inverter and contains only one auxiliary switch and a few passive devices, which is conducive to reducing the hardware cost of the auxiliary circuit and simplifying the control of the auxiliary circuit, so as to improve the reliability and practicability of the inverter. During the operating process of the inverter, the main switch and the auxiliary switch can achieve soft-switching by using the auxiliary circuit, and the energy-saving operation of the inverter can be realised by reducing the switching loss. In this paper, the operating process of the circuit and the realisation condition of the soft-switching are analysed. The experimental results on a single-phase prototype with the rated power of 3 kW show that the switching device can achieve soft-switching, and the efficiency of the prototype at the rated power reaches 98.6%, which lays a theoretical and technical foundation for the further research and development of a new practical high-performance single-phase full-bridge soft-switching inverter.

    摘要: A compact planar Ultrawideband (UWB) monopole antenna with quadruple band notch characteristics is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a notched rectangular radiating patch with a 50 ohm microstrip feed line, and a defected ground plane. The quadruple band notched functions are achieved by utilising two inverted U-shaped slots, a symmetrical split ring resonator pair (SSRRP) and a via hole. The fabricated antenna has a compact size of 24 mm x 30 mm x 1.6 mm with an impedance bandwidth ranging from 2.86 to 12.2 GHz for magnitude of S-11 < -10 dB. The four band notched characteristics of proposed antenna are in the WiMAX (worldwide interoperability for microwave access) band (3.25-3.55 GHz), C band (3.7-4.2 GHz), WLAN (wireless local area network) band (5.2-5.9 GHz) and the downlink frequency band of X band (7-7.8 GHz) for satellite communication are obtained. The measured and simulation results of proposed antenna are in good agreement to achieve impedance matching, stable radiation patterns, constant gain and group delay over the operating bandwidth.

    摘要: In this paper, we consider the wireless communication systems where multi-hop Device-to-Device (D2D) networks can coexist with the conventional cellular networks by sharing the downlink resource of cellular users (CUs). A multicast data flow is distributed over the multi-hop D2D networks where network coding (NC) can be employed at the intermediate nodes. To maximize the utility of the multicast flow, we formulate a joint optimization problem for the systems while guaranteeing the quality-of-service (QoS) for regular CUs. We propose a subgradient algorithm to solve the optimization problem by decomposing it into three sub-problems: multicast rate control, NC subgraph selection, and downlink resource reusing. In particular, we develop a greedy algorithm to deal with the downlink resource reusing sub-problem for it is NP hard. Numerical and simulation results prove the superior performance of the proposed techniques compared with the conventional routing scheme.

    摘要: The collaboration of users in communication systems is defined as cooperative communication. The cognitive radio, i.e. dynamic spectrum access technique, is a wireless communication technology that provides a great chance for unlicensed users to exploit the frequency bands in an opportunistic way. A wireless sensor network is a widely used communication technology composing of spatially distributed independent sensors in order to monitor physical or environmental circumstances. In this work, a new technique that unlicensed users become a cooperative relay when they are in idle mode is proposed. Along with the proposed technique, unlicensed users help sensor nodes as a cooperative relay when they are in idle mode. Similarly, sensor nodes help unlicensed users for detecting idle frequency bands while in sleep mode. By preventing any disruption that remote users may be exposed owing to signal attenuation, the proposed cooperative relay utilises amplify and forward based cooperative communication protocol. Thanks to this approach; the overall network has greater performance than wireless sensor network that does not use cooperative communication based dynamic access technique in terms of throughput, energy, and delay.

    摘要: Wind turbine control is an important task to make the electricity generation secure in terms of energy demand and machine safety. It also yields to control the desired power level and optimized energy because of the assignment of turbine speed. The contactless piezoelectric wind energy harvester (CPWEH) used in this study has three piezoelectric layers located around the shaft with 120 degrees apart and they are buckled by the magnetic force without any physical contact. The superiority of this device is to generate energy for low wind speeds such as 1.5 m/s. However, for high speeds, high total harmonic distortions (THDs) govern the waveforms, thus controlling the turbine speed becomes necessary for optimizing the output power. Encouraged by this, a small low inertia dc generator is coupled with the wind turbine, and the generator terminals are connected to a resistor through a power switch to generate a braking torque that opposes to wind speed direction. By controlling the switch properly, turbine speed is ensured to remain within a certain band, which accordingly prevents the turbine from rotating very fast at damaging wind speeds. Several experiments are performed on the developed CPWEH with/without the presented control scheme which prove the existence of promising performance of our proposal.

    摘要: Memory-resistor (Memristor) has drawn considerable attention of the researchers in the last decade due to its remarkable properties. After the first concept of memristor, proposed by Leon Chua in 1971, almost no research work was conducted in this field for a long time. However, since the revolutionary discovery of the physical structure of memristor and its model of the HP lab in 2008, a tremendous amount of research work has been going on. Researchers are focusing on improving the models for the analysis of the memristor. Different researchers have come up with their model to improve the existing ones. These models can be linear, nonlinear or exponential. To overcome the boundary problem, many window functions have been proposed. Different models have their explanations of voltage-current relationship and state variable derivatives. This paper presents a detailed review and a comparative study of the existing memristor models based on their I-V characteristic curve. Original experimental I-V curve from the HP lab has been used as the reference for comparison.

    摘要: This paper presents an output feedback sliding mode control (SMC) of a SEPIC converter whose utilisation areas include MPPT and PFC in industrial applications. Owing to their discrete nature, DC-DC converters represent challenges in modelling therefore special linearisation techniques are required. In this study, state space averaging method, which is one of those linearisation methods, is employed in the modelling phase of the design process. Since SEPIC has non-minimum phase and non-linear characteristics, conventional linear control algorithms offer unsatisfactory performance in the face of disturbances, thereby requiring more advanced control strategies. Recently, SMC technique has gained popularity due to whose robust nature against parameter variations, modelling uncertainties and disturbances. Output Feedback Discrete Sliding Mode Control (ODSMC) is a SMC control algorithm that requires only output to be measured instead of full state vector, thereby eliminating the observer design process. To validate the superiority of the non-linear controller in the case of supply voltage and load current variations with sensor noise, results of numerical simulations that are carried are also given.

    摘要: In photovoltaic systems in order to ensure the stable operation of the module, ripple value of the input voltage should be mitigated to a small value; for this purpose, the power decoupling circuit can be used. In this work, considering the four-switch-based power decoupling circuit developed, the conventional Proportional-Integral (PI) controller has been replaced with well-known fuzzy controller, which enjoys a wide range of control gain variation, both linear and nonlinear rules' capability, robustness and more flexibility. The operating modes of the circuit are addressed and accordingly the space state model is derived. Then, the proposed controller has been replaced and the performance of the system will be analysed. The power decoupling circuit along with the proposed controller is implemented by MATLAB/Simulink software. The simulation results show the ability of the proposed fuzzy controller to improve the performance of the system in comparison to the conventional PI controller. A deeper comparison of two controllers confirms that the system would experience more accuracy, faster response and lower total harmonic distortion (THD) in presence of the proposed fuzzy controller.

    摘要: Voltage violation is an important factor that restricts grid-connected photovoltaic system. The utilization of PV plant's reactive power capability is an effective measure to mitigate voltage violation. This paper proposes two-stage voltage control strategy to enhance the voltage support capability of photovoltaic grid-connected system. In first stage, adaptive gains are set according to the maximum reactive capacity of each PV plant in order to distribute reactive power among PV plants more reasonably, avoiding certain PV plants operating in the limit state for a long time. In second stage, when the reactive power capacity is insufficient, the priority of active power curtailment for each PV plant is calculated in real time. Active power curtailment control will be performed in PV plants with high priority to released more reactive power capacity for voltage support. The simulation results carried out by PSCAD/EMTDC software demonstrated that this strategy can effectively solve the voltage violation problem. Meanwhile, the proposed strategy not only can exploit reactive capacity of each PV plant as much as possible to avoid certain PV plants operating in the limit state for a long time, but also can reduce the amount of active power curtailment when reactive power adequacy is insufficient.

    摘要: Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) play a vital role in present-day world, which are being used in different types of applications and occupy an important part in networking domain. The main objective of WSNs is to sense and collect the information from a given area of interest and provide the gathered data to the sink. WSN comprises of number of sensor nodes with batteries of limited energy for communication and computational activities, which are not possible to recharge the batteries after their deployment in the region of interest. Therefore, saving battery energy and utilising the limited power to the optimum level for extending network lifetime became the main factor of WSN. Hence, optimum cluster head (CH) selection will make the network to support longer lifetime and balanced energy consumption during its lifetime. Our proposed protocol selects the optimum CH and found out to be more efficient than the existing low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy. The simulated output shows better network lifetime and in some other performance metric.

    摘要: With the failure of Dennard's Scaling, we cannot power on all the transistors of an circuit simultaneously for a given thermal design power. In this paper, we propose coarse-grained power gated hybrid buffer based Network on Chip router microarchitecture which a large amount of Network on Chip router power and area is consumed by the FIFO buffers. State of the art NoC router buffers is composed of SRAM, which is neither power efficient nor area efficient. We have proposed hybrid buffers based coarse-grained power gated Network on Chip router microarchitecture. As STT-MRAM (Spin Transfer Torque Magneto-resistive Random Access Memory) provides an improved solution having near zero leakage power and higher package density. Our proposed router microarchitecture improves 12.3% average packet latency as compared to state of the art power gated SRAM based router and 4.90% as compared to the fine-grained power gated hybrid buffer based router respectively for PARSEC benchmarks. We have achieved 65% and 21.34% total network energy saving for PARSEC benchmarks as compared with one without power gating and state of the art power gated SRAM based router respectively. Our hybrid router is 35.10% area efficient as compare to pure SRAM based power gated router at 32nm technology node.
